My selfie portrays a dramatic and meaningful statement. What I tried to depict was a message of hiding, humanity, and creativity. I placed four images in total together: a first person perspective image of me riding a bicycle, an image of water washing upon rocks, an image of stairs, and a selfie of myself. The first person perspective image of me riding a bicycle portrays a creative element; that I am finding new ways to photograph what I enjoy. I figured that taking my hands off the handlebars not only gives the photograph an original point of view, but a tone of adventure and curiosity. The next image included was a photograph of water washing upon a shore of rocks, but I slowed down the shutter speed so it captured the motion of the water…giving the photo an eerie and ominous vibe. The last image I layered over my self portrait was a photo of stairs. It was from a point of view that showed you the ground by looking from the top of the stairs; a downwards perspective. This created an abstract setting, in a simplistic manner. My self portrait contained dramatic lighting, revealing the littlest details that mattered the most. It was a view from the side, and my eyes were focused on the ground….as if I was contemplating something. All of these images placed together made a story-a story about someone who can be shy, creative, adventurous, and still a human being….and doesn't realize that others acknowledge that. Some of the tools that helped me create this artwork were: the magic wand, which helped remove the background of my selfie, the enlargement tool, which allowed me to adjust the size of my photos, and the opacity tool., which helped me layer the photographs on top of one another. Overall, I believe I did a great job of capturing the image I had my mind set to-humane and meaningful.
